The Carré d'Or is the handful of streets between the Casino and the Mediterranean – Avenue de Monte-Carlo, Avenue des Beaux-Arts, the lanes around the Hôtel de Paris and the Hermitage. The name comes from the windows at street level, where the great houses of watchmaking and couture sit one beside the next, but the value is in the floors above them.

These are Belle Époque buildings, mostly, with the ceilings and proportions that period built and the location nothing can reproduce. Apartments here are held for years and parted with rarely, which is precisely what makes them what they are. When one becomes available, it is rarely available for long.

To buy in the Carré d'Or is to buy the centre of the centre – the most recognised square hundred metres in the Principality, and among the most resilient addresses in Europe.
