Monaco-Ville

Where Monaco began.

Le Rocher is the old town on the rock above the harbour - Monaco-Ville on the maps, but Le Rocher to everyone who knows it. The Prince's Palace stands at one end, the cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum nearby, and between them a tangle of cobbled lanes that predate everything else in the Principality.

There are few residences here, and they change hands rarely. Much of the rock is protected, the streets are pedestrian, and many of the homes have been held by the same families for generations. It is the quietest part of Monaco by some distance - closed to through traffic, removed from the pace below, lived in rather than passed through.

To own here is to own a piece of the oldest Monaco there is. It will not suit everyone - it is heritage before convenience - but for the buyer drawn to history, rarity, and a kind of stillness the rest of the Principality cannot offer, there is nothing else like it.
